The Johor Port Authority has reported to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) that the oil leak at Langsat Terminal has ceased. However, clean-up efforts at the terminal are still underway. Meanwhile, clean-up operations for the oil patch off the northeastern coast of Pulau Ubin and along Changi Beach are in full swing. To safeguard the delicate ecosystems, booms will be placed at Chek Jawa Wetlands in Pulau Ubin.
In collaboration with the Singapore Food Agency, local fish farms in the East Johor Straits are implementing necessary preventive measures to mitigate the impact of the spill. The situation is being closely monitored with the help of drones and satellite imagery to identify any additional oil patches in the surrounding waters. To enhance recovery efforts, the Marine Oil Sweeper, an advanced oil recovery system, has been deployed near Pulau Ubin. This system is on standby in case any new oil patches are discovered at sea.
The National Environment Agency (NEA) has issued a public advisory, recommending against swimming and engaging in primary contact water activities at Changi Beach and Pasir Ris Beach until further notice. Additionally, certain areas of Changi Beach Park will be cordoned off to aid in clean-up efforts. Public access to the Chek Jawa Wetlands is also temporarily restricted for the spill response. Currently, no further oil patches have been identified either at sea or onshore.
The MPA, along with its partner agencies, continues to monitor the situation closely and is prepared to provide updates in case of significant developments.
