The Port of Piraeus has made a significant advancement in its quest to become a premier vehicle transshipment hub in the Eastern Mediterranean with the inaugural visit of the MV COSCO SHENG SHI. This vessel represents the first arrival from COSCO Shipping Car Carriers at the Greek port, signaling the start of a new monthly service offered by China’s largest maritime vehicle transport provider.
The MV COSCO SHENG SHI, a Pure Car and Truck Carrier (PCTC), boasts impressive dimensions of 182.8 meters in length and 32.2 meters in width, with the capability to transport 5,276 vehicles. During its maiden call at Piraeus, it successfully offloaded 199 GEELY passenger cars and 17 electric buses, making its debut a noteworthy occasion.
COSCO Shipping Car Carriers operates a fleet comprising over 13 modern PCTC vessels. The decision to include Piraeus in its regular shipping route emphasizes the port’s essential role in the global automotive supply chain.
