HD Korea Shipbuilding Receives Order for Two Container Ships from Asian Shipowner

HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, a key player in the shipbuilding sector under HD Hyundai, announced on April 25 that it has secured a contract to construct two container ships for an Asian shipping company. This order amounts to 559.6 billion KRW, with both vessels to be built by HD Hyundai Samho.

Delivery of the ships is scheduled for the first half of 2028. With this latest contract, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering has now received orders for a total of 31 vessels, valued at approximately 4.89 billion USD.

This achievement represents 27.1% of the company’s annual order target, which is set at 18.05 billion USD for the year. The diversity in orders highlights the company’s capabilities in various ship types, including one LNG carrier, four LNG bunkering vessels, four LPG/ammonia carriers, two ethane carriers, sixteen container ships, and four tankers.

This broad portfolio reflects the growing demand in the shipping industry and positions HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering favorably for future expansions and opportunities. As the company continues to grow its order book, it demonstrates a solid trajectory in meeting both short-term and long-term goals, aligning with the industry’s evolving needs and the demand for modern, efficient vessels.
