Asyad Shipping has recently announced the acquisition of two mega crude oil tankers, which rank among the largest globally with each vessel capable of holding up to two million barrels of oil. This significant investment marks a strategic step in bolstering the company’s expansion within the energy sector, enhancing its footprint in both regional and international markets. Emad bin Saeed al Khaduri, the Chief Commercial Officer of Asyad Shipping, highlighted that this purchase is part of a comprehensive strategy to grow the shipping fleet and foster collaborations with prominent international oil transport companies. The newly acquired vessels adhere to carbon neutrality standards, aligning with Asyad’s commitment to sustainability as it pursues its growth objectives.
Looking ahead, Asyad Shipping aims to expand its fleet to 85 vessels by April 2025, with plans to explore new sectors such as ethylene and ammonia transportation alongside its current focus on crude oil and gas. The company is adopting flexible operational models, with a mix of short- and long-term contracts as well as spot contracts to cater to dynamic market demands. As part of its expansion initiatives, Asyad Shipping is set to invest between $2.3 and $2.7 billion. To date, over $1 billion has already been invested, which includes the acquisition of new vessels expected to enter service in 2026 and 2027.
These future additions will encompass two LNG carriers, four crude oil carriers, and two oil derivative carriers. With an international presence established through its trade office in Singapore, Asyad Shipping achieved exceptional performance in 2024 by successfully managing and operating 38 tankers. This reflects the company’s operational efficiency and its leadership position in the maritime sector.
