Christiania Energy, a privately-owned Danish trading company, has officially launched its new branch office and begun physical marine fuel supply operations in France. This development marks a significant step in the company’s expansion, aiming to provide reliable, flexible, and high-quality bunker fuel solutions. Michael Allaire, the newly appointed Head of French Supply, stated that the organization is collaborating with traders, brokers, shipowners, and agents to offer exceptional services to commercial and offshore vessels, as well as fishing trawlers, cruise lines, and the yachting community in the region.
The company’s logistics setup is fully operational, with a dedicated team based in Southern France. At present, Christiania Energy supplies Marine Gasoil (DMA 0.1%) through truck deliveries. They also provide Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) 10ppm / EN590, with plans to incorporate biofuels in the near future to advance their commitment to sustainable maritime practices.
With the Mediterranean Sea designated as an Emission Control Area (ECA) starting on May 1, 2025, Christiania Energy aims to adapt to the industry’s changing landscape. Managing Director Patrick Jørgensen highlighted that this effort not only aids compliance with the new 0.1% sulfur cap but also places the company at the forefront of a market shift. As global marine gasoil demand is projected to rise by 20-30%, Christiania Energy is poised to forge new relationships while meeting regulatory requirements.
The new office in Golfe Juan will oversee fuel deliveries across various regions, including the French Atlantic Coast, the English Channel, and the French Mediterranean. In addition to fuel services, Christiania Energy plans to offer a range of technical management services, including tailored lubricants, designed to meet the operational needs of vessels operating in French waters. This strategic expansion aims to build trust and value for customers in an evolving maritime landscape.
