HD Korea Shipbuilding Secures $270.6 Million Contract for Two LNG Bunkering Vessels

HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, part of the HD Hyundai group, announced on May 23 that it has secured a significant contract for the construction of two LNG bunkering vessels. These vessels, each weighing 18,000 tons, will be built for a European shipping company, with the total value of the contract amounting to 270.6 billion KRW. The vessels will be constructed at HD Hyundai Mipo, with an expected delivery timeframe set for the second half of 2027. This contract adds to HD Korea Shipbuilding’s impressive order book, which now includes a total of 55 ships, representing a combined value of 67 billion USD.

The company has successfully achieved 37.1% of its provisional annual order target of 18.05 billion USD. Regarding the composition of its orders, HD Korea Shipbuilding has diversified into various ship types. Their current orders encompass 1 LNG carrier, 6 LNG bunkering vessels, 6 LPG/ammonia carriers, 2 ethane carriers, 34 container ships, and 6 tankers. This recent contract highlights the company’s growth trajectory and its commitment to expanding its capabilities in the maritime sector, particularly in the field of LNG technology.
