Alisha Fredriksson, CEO and Co-Founder of Seabound, a revolutionary carbon capture company, has been honored with the Nor-Shipping 2025 Young Entrepreneur Award. The award ceremony took place yesterday in Oslo, where she emerged victorious from a competitive shortlist that included notable figures such as Kvasir Technologies’ CEO Joachim Bachmann Nielsen and Josephine Le, Founder of The Hood Platform. This recognition places Fredriksson alongside a distinguished group of past recipients, all of whom were under 40 at the time of their accolade.

Previous winners include industry leaders like Cristina Aleixendri of bound4blue and Boyan Slat of The Ocean Cleanup. Sidsel Norvik, Director of Nor-Shipping, praised Fredriksson for embodying the future of ocean leadership. She emphasized that Fredriksson is “visionary, driven, and wholly committed to making a real-world impact,” which aligns perfectly with the core theme of Nor-Shipping 2025: #Future-Proof.

Erlend Holberg, Secretary General of YoungShip International, echoed this sentiment, highlighting Fredriksson’s significant contributions and potential to influence a sustainable maritime future. He admired her transformative approach to leadership, which is solutions-focused and encourages innovation. Since co-founding Seabound in 2021, Fredriksson has rapidly gained acclaim for her efforts in addressing maritime decarbonization by developing onboard carbon capture systems.

In 2023, her team successfully conducted sea trials that captured up to 80% of CO₂ emissions on a large container ship. Additionally, they showcased the innovative capability of converting vessel emissions into solid limestone for reuse. Nor-Shipping 2025 is currently underway in Oslo and Lillestrøm, featuring a comprehensive program that runs until June 6.

The event expects more than 50,000 industry decision-makers and around 1,000 exhibitors, highlighting the latest innovations in the maritime and ocean sectors.
