HD Hyundai Announces New Contract Deal

HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, part of HD Hyundai and focused on shipbuilding, announced on June 13 that it has secured a contract to construct two Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs) for a shipping company based in Asia. The total value of this contract amounts to 349 billion KRW.

The vessels will be built at HD Hyundai Samho and are expected to be delivered in the second half of 2027. With this latest contract, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering has achieved a significant milestone in its order book, having received a total of 69 ship orders to date, valued at 9.26 billion USD.

This achievement puts the company at 51.3% of its provisional annual order target of 18.05 billion USD. In terms of diversification, the company’s orders encompass a variety of ship types, including 1 LNG carrier, 6 LNG bunkering vessels, 8 LPG/ammonia carriers, 2 ethane carriers, 44 container ships, and 8 tankers.

These varied contracts reflect the company’s robust position in the maritime industry and its commitment to meeting the growing demands of the shipping sector.
