The fuel availability outlook for the East of Suez region reveals varying conditions across Singapore, Malaysia, East Asia, Oceania, South Asia, and the Middle East. In Singapore, the lead times for Very Low Sulfur Fuel Oil (VLSFO) remain inconsistent despite a decline in demand. While some suppliers suggest a six-day lead time, others recommend booking two weeks in advance due to long-term contracts taking precedence.
This is a minor improvement from the previous week’s 5–21 day range. Lead times for Low Sulfur Marine Gas Oil (LSMGO) have also improved, now at 2–8 days. However, High Sulfur Fuel Oil (HSFO) lead times have increased to 9–14 days.
Port Klang in Malaysia sees abundant availability for VLSFO and LSMGO with quicker delivery options for smaller quantities, although HSFO supplies are constrained. East Asia presents a mixed picture. In Zhoushan, VLSFO and HSFO lead times are stable, around 5–7 days and 4–6 days, respectively.
LSMGO has seen an improvement with lead times dropping to 2–4 days. Conversely, in northern China, Dalian and Qingdao have good supplies of VLSFO and LSMGO while HSFO shortages are apparent in Qingdao. Tianjin’s supply for all fuel grades is tight.
Shanghai faces similar restrictions for VLSFO and HSFO. In South Korea, there is a tightening of LSMGO supply as buyers seek cheaper alternatives from local ports compared to China. Lead times for LSMGO now vary from 4–10 days.
In Japan, ports are generally well-stocked with VLSFO and LSMGO, although prompt availability is less in several regions. Oceania reports stable supplies of VLSFO and LSMGO in most areas, though disruptions are anticipated due to weather conditions. In South Asia, various Indian ports are experiencing tight VLSFO supplies, while LSMGO availability is less clear.
Moving to the Middle East, a temporary ceasefire has eased market volatility. Notably, VLSFO availability in Fujairah has improved, despite continued supply constraints on HSFO and LSMGO. In several regions, stocks are critically low, with Omani ports remaining stable.
