Ukraine’s Grain Exports for 2024/25 Decline by 20.5% to 40.6 Million Tons, Reports Ministry

Ukraine’s grain exports are projected to decrease by 20.5% in the 2024/25 season, with estimates indicating a total of 40.6 million metric tons. This is a significant drop from the previous year’s exports of 51.1 million tons, according to the Ukrainian agricultural ministry. The reported exports for the 2024/25 season include 15.7 million tons of wheat and 22.0 million tons of corn.

In contrast, last year’s figures were higher, with 18.5 million tons of wheat and 29.5 million tons of corn exported in the 2023/24 season. Ukraine has historically been a major player in the global grain market, recognized for its extensive agricultural production. However, the ongoing conflict resulting from the Russian invasion in 2022 has severely impacted the country’s agricultural harvest and export capacity.

The decline in grain exports reflects not only the immediate effects of the conflict but also the longer-term challenges facing Ukraine’s agricultural sector as it adapts to an unstable environment. This situation is likely to have significant implications for global grain supply and prices, given Ukraine’s role as a key exporter on the world stage. As the country navigates these difficulties, the international community continues to monitor the situation closely, recognizing the critical importance of Ukraine’s agricultural output to global food security.
